Why should I choose Jitka Wenham Photography for my newborn photoshoot?
Choosing the right photographer for your newborn is a big decision — you're trusting someone with your brand new baby, and you want to know they'll be safe, comfortable, and beautifully photographed. Here's why so many families across Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas choose me.
Are you an experienced newborn photographer?
I have over 10 years of dedicated experience as a specialist newborn photographer. In that time I have safely handled and photographed hundreds of newborns in my Milton Keynes studio. Newborn photography is not something I do alongside weddings or events — it is my sole focus and my passion. This means every aspect of my studio, my equipment, my props, and my approach has been refined over a decade specifically for photographing babies. I know how to soothe a fussy newborn, how to gently guide them into beautiful poses, and how to keep them safe and comfortable throughout.
What training and qualifications do you have?
I have invested heavily in my professional development and have been trained by some of the most respected newborn photographers in the world, including Kelly Brown (Australia), Zanelle Walter (Australia), Sarah Wilkes (UK), Tracy Willis (UK), Gary Hill (UK), and Elli Cassidy (UK). I hold current first aid certification for newborns and children, which I refresh every single year without exception. I am fully insured for professional photography. I am a proud member of The Guild of Photographers and The Societies of Photographers, both of which require members to meet professional standards of quality and conduct.
Have you won any awards for your photography?
Yes. I have been recognised as a Top 10 International Newborn Photographer by The Societies of Photographers, and my work has received awards from the UK Photography Print Awards, the ICON Awards, and Click Masters. These awards are judged by industry professionals and are a reflection of the quality and artistry I bring to every session. I'm proud of every single one, but what matters most to me is that my families love their images.
How is your studio set up for newborns?
My studio in the Medbourne area of Milton Keynes has been designed specifically with newborns and young families in mind. It's kept beautifully warm so your baby stays comfortable and settled throughout the session. It's a calm, quiet space — no bright lights, no loud noises, no rush. I have a wide range of high-quality wraps, blankets, hats, headbands, and props so there are always plenty of options for your session without you needing to buy or bring anything. There's comfortable seating for parents, space for siblings to play, and plenty of free parking right outside the door. Many parents tell me it's one of the most relaxing experiences they've had with their new baby.
Will my baby be safe with you?
Your baby's safety is my absolute number one priority — above everything else, including getting the perfect photograph. I never compromise on safety. Every pose I use has been learned through specialist training, and I always use a spotter or composite techniques for any poses where additional support is needed. I have held hundreds of newborns and I am confident, gentle, and experienced in handling even the most wriggly or unsettled babies. My annual first aid refresher means I am always prepared, and my full professional insurance gives you additional peace of mind.
What makes your photography style different?
My style is natural, timeless, and artistic. I focus on capturing the tiny details that change so quickly — little fingers, button noses, eyelashes, the way your baby curls up. I use soft, natural colours and textures that won't date, so your images will look just as beautiful on your wall in twenty years as they do today. I also prioritise connection — those natural moments between parents and baby, siblings meeting for the first time, the quiet tenderness of a new family. These are the images my clients tell me they treasure the most.
Do your clients come back to you?
This is something I'm genuinely proud of. A large proportion of my clients return for subsequent milestones — cake smash sessions, sibling newborn sessions when a new baby arrives, annual family portraits, and children's sessions as their little ones grow. Many families have been coming to me for years. I think that speaks to the experience I provide as much as the images themselves. I love building relationships with my families and watching their children grow up through my lens.
Why should I choose a specialist newborn photographer over a general photographer?
Newborn photography is a highly specialised skill. It requires specific training in safe baby handling and posing, a studio environment set up for newborns (temperature, lighting, equipment), and the patience and experience to work at a baby's pace over several hours. A general photographer who covers weddings, portraits, and events may take beautiful photographs, but they may not have the specialist newborn training, the safety knowledge, or the dedicated setup that a newborn specialist like me has. When it comes to your brand new baby, I believe that specialism matters.
What do your clients say about you?
My clients are incredibly kind and I'm so grateful for the wonderful reviews I've received. Parents regularly comment on how relaxed and comfortable they felt during the session, how safe their baby was in my hands, and how much they love their finished images. I'd encourage you to read my reviews on Google and Facebook to hear directly from other families who've visited my studio. Their words mean the world to me and they'll give you a real sense of what to expect.
I'm still not sure — can I ask you questions before booking?
Of course! I completely understand that choosing a newborn photographer is a personal decision and I'd never want you to feel pressured. Please feel free to call me on 07885 664046, send me a message through my contact form, or drop me a message on social media. I'm always happy to chat, answer any questions, and help you decide if I'm the right photographer for your family. There's absolutely no obligation.
